Our Phoenix Chapter has a lot to be proud of! Three of our FBIPCAAA Past Board Presidents and one Life Member have served/currently serving on the FBI National CAAA leadership team:
Alicia Wadas, 2021 FBINCAAA President (Phoenix)
Alicia Wadas was elected to the Board of Directors of the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association in 2016. She began her service to National in 2015 as Regional Chapter Coordinator for Region 5, working with 12 western chapters. A 2008 FBI Phoenix CA graduate, Alicia joined the Phoenix CAAA board of directors the same year. She served on the Phoenix board for 7 years in various roles, including president. As Chief Operating Officer of a top marketing firm in Phoenix, she was the inaugural winner of the 2018 Women of Excellence Award, a 2017 C-Suite finalist among top executives in Phoenix, and in 2014 was named one of the Most Influential Women in Arizona Business. She's active in her industry, serving as a director for Independent NewsMedia, a publisher of 24 community newspapers in 4 states, and as past-president of Intermarket Agency Network, an association of 15 independently owned agencies. Alicia is also on the advisory board of GratitudeAmerica, a nonprofit dedicated to providing critical support for military service members and their families during their return to civilian life.
Charles R. Smith, Esq, FBINCAAA General Counsel (Phoenix)
Charles Smith joined the FBI National CAAA Board as a non-voting legal advisor in December 2017 and is proud to be a 2020 recipient of the distinguished Meritorious Service Medal for his service as General Counsel. Charles is a 2016 graduate of the FBI Phoenix Citizens Academy and served the FBI Phoenix CAAA as a director, Vice President of Operations and as General Counsel until June 2019. After growing up in Minnesota and attending high school in Texas, in 1983 Charles obtained a Bachelor of Science with high honors in Accounting from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. In 1986, he was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona College of Law. Charles has over 35 years of experience actively practicing as a corporate, business, tax, estate planning and non-profit attorney practicing in Tucson, Arizona. Charles devotes time to family, enjoys travel and performing community service. He works with numerous non-profit organizations and is active in local and state bar associations seeking to improve the legal community. He is on the editorial board of the official publication of the Pima County Bar Association, and is a volunteer attorney for Southern Arizona Legal Aid.
Larry Abbott, National Past President (Phoenix)
Larry Abbott, until 2018, was the Scout Executive/CEO, Boy Scouts of America, Grand Canyon Council, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. He has earned Eagle Scout and has been employed with the BSA since 1974. Larry served as Scout Executive from 1984 to present in Councils at: Palo Alto, CA; Ontario, CA; Tacoma, WA; and Arizona. His organization is providing character-building programs to over 47,000 youth and 22,000 active volunteers. He also serves on Arizona State University President's Advisory Council.
Chuck Matthews, Senior Vice President (Phoenix)
Chuck Matthews joined the Board of Directors in 2012, serving first as Treasurer for three years. He currently serves as the Vice President of Strategy and Development. Chuck is the Chairman and CEO of WGM Holdings LLC, a consulting firm specializing in information technology, security, and forensic investigative services. Chuck is also a member of InfraGard and actively involved in his local community. Prior to joining the Board of Directors, he served two terms as President of the FBI Phoenix Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
